2021 Escudo Rojo Origine – 93 points James Suckling

Maipo Valley, Chile – 100% Cabernet Sauvignon – 14.0% ABV

12 months, 100% French oak barrels / 25% new barrels and 75% 2-to-3 years old barrels.

Intense, glittering ruby red with purple highlights. The wine has a very delicate nose, rich in aromas of berry fruit such as cherry, blueberry, cassis and blackcurrant, mingled with touches of spice and herb (pink peppercorn, sage and rosemary) and subtle notes of cedarwood, tobacco and leather from time spent in oak. The attack is powerful but highly elegant, with good structure and volume and balanced acidity. The mid-palate is full and complex, the tannins very silky and finely textured. The long finish is marked by lingering berry-fruit flavours with hints of tobacco.

Elegance and refinement are the hallmarks of this wine, which has considerable ageing potential.

Central Valley, Chile – 39% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Carmenere, 9% Syrah, 6% Cabernet Franc, 7% Petit Verdot – 14.0% ABV

12 months, 100% French oak barrels / 25% new barrels and 75% 1-to-2-year-old barrels.

Brilliant, intense ruby-red with purple highlights. Very intense and fruity, with notes of black fruit like blackberry, blackcurrant and fig as well as dried fruit such as prune and dried cherry, mingled with delicate spicy notes of black pepper and rosemary and well-integrated hints of toffee and coffee thanks to ageing in French oak barrels.

An elegant wine which starts out seductive on the palate, with excellent viscosity and good balance between acidity, sweetness and smoothness. The elegant structure is underpinned by a silky texture. Fruity aromas such as blueberry follow through to the aftertaste, accompanied by excellent acidity, making for a long and persistent finish.

2022 Escudo Rojo Reserva Carmenere – 92 points James Suckling
Colchagua Valley, Chile – 100% Carmenere – 14.5% ABV

10 months, 80% French oak barrels / 30% new barrels and 70% 1-to-2-year-old barrels.

Intense violet with a purple hue. The nose is very fruit-forward, with aromas of black fruit such as plum, blueberry and blackberry that mingle with spice notes (soy sauce, bay leaf) and touches of vanilla, coffee and cherry tart from time spent in French oak barrels.

The generous attack displays good volume and substance with fresh and balanced acidity. On the palate, well-rounded, silky tannins support red fruit flavours of plum and cherry.

2020 MAPU Tierra Sagrada VIGNO Carignan
Maule Valley, Chile – 100% Carignan – 13.5% ABV

14 months / 100 % French oak barrels 2- to 3-year-old barrels.

Lovely, brilliant, intense ruby red colour with purple highlights. Very intense, laden with wild red berries like rosehip and Chilean guava that give way to plum and cherry, with nicely integrated notes of coffee and black tobacco imparted by ageing in French oak barrels.

Starts out fresh and juicy delicious acidity on the palate, refreshing and rich, with a good sensation of volume The structure is elegant despite noticeable tannins, and the finish is long and very persistent The wine reveals the potent, elegant character of Chilean Carignan from the coastal dryland vineyards of the Maule Valley (Secano Costero)

2022 MAPU Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon
Maule Valley, Chile – 100% Cabernet Sauvignon – 13.5% ABV

In order to give the wine its fruit driven, complex style, about half the vintage is matured in oak for six to eight months before bottling.

Intense ruby red colour. A complex, fruit centred nose with aromas of red fruit (blueberry, morello cherry), mingled with a few spicy notes (black pepper and fennel) and hints of toffee and vanilla thanks to oak ageing. An intense start, followed by good volume and richness mid palate with well structured, soft tannins backed up by more red berry aromas The aftertaste is long, with the wine’s acidity making for a persistent finish.

2022 MAPU Reserva Merlot
Maule Valley, Chile – 100% Merlot – 14.0% ABV

In order to give the wine its fruit driven, complex style, about half the vintage is matured in oak for six to eight months before bottling.

Brilliant ruby red colour. Very intense with aromas of red fruit (morello cherry) alongside dried fruit, mingled with spicy notes of rosemary and black pepper, with well-integrated oak nuances reminiscent of butterscotch and cedar.

Starts out delicious and full bodied, with good volume in the well-structured mid palate Red fruit and spicy notes return to the fore in the aftertaste. The finish is well balanced, with good length and acidity enhancing the freshness.
