| Tasting notes | Dominus 2014 is a powerful yet beautifully composed expression of Napa Valley, showing the estate’s signature balance between concentration, structure and restraint. The nose opens with deep blackcurrant, blueberry, plum and cassis, layered with cardamom, graphite, cedar, tobacco leaf, dried herbs and subtle forest floor complexity. On the palate, the wine is dense and polished without feeling heavy. Dark fruit sits at the core, supported by fine-grained tannins, savoury spice, mineral depth and a long, controlled line of acidity. With time in the glass, the wine reveals more detail — black cherry, cocoa, crushed rock, cigar box and earthy undertones — all carried through a long, persistent finish. Already entering a beautiful drinking window, the 2014 still has the structure and balance to continue evolving for many years. A benchmark Napa Valley Cabernet blend for collectors who value power, elegance and longevity in equal measure. |
